Trichomoniasis

Trichomoniasis vaginalis (TV/trich/trick) is the most common sexually transmitted infection, which is caused by a tiny parasite through unprotected vaginal sex. Often there are no symptoms for Trichomoniasis but occasionally people can suffer the symptoms as shown below.

 Symptoms for men: - 

  A burning sensation when urinating

  Pain during sex

 Symptoms for women: -

  Pain when passing urine

  Inflamed vulva and vagina which can also cause pain during sex

  Severe burning and itching of the skin in the genital area

  Cystitis

Trichomoniasis is normally treated with antibiotics or cream. Throughout treatment individuals should not have penetrative sex until given the all clear by the doctor. It is also important that any partners you may have had are also checked/treated by a doctor or clinic as they may be carrying the infection without knowing it.
