Sexual Positions (The Basics)

Thousands of years ago sex was a mere necessity. It was something we, as mammals, did to reproduce. It wasn’t something we did for recreational purposes and not something we were particularly meant to enjoy. We drew pictures on cave walls and battered woolly mammoths for leisure. Then it started to change. When? Who knows?

No one knows for sure what the first position was but I’d hazard a guess at either doggy style (lets face it…we were mammals and all mammals go hammer and tongs in doggy…even cats) or the missionary position. Then the Karma Sutra was produced amongst a flurry of books and scriptures from the Far East showing us all manner of positions in use by a civilisation well in advance of ours in Britain. While India was getting it on we were ploughing fields and getting battered by the Vikings, Romans, Saxons, Normans and anyone else who decided they wanted a piece of our green and pleasant land. “Vini, Vidi, Vici” was the phrase on everyone’s lips as they gazed across the English Channel.

 A Victorian Army Officer translated the Karma Sutra, Karma Shastra and the Perfumed Garden and educated us all (although some of the racier chapters were left out). We learnt and we practised and we became bloody good at it. We made films about it, published magazines about it and even dressed up for it! We became Olympic standard sexual athletes across the whole country. From the elderly to the younger generation we were all doing what we’d missed out on while the rest of the world was in rapturous orgasm. We now have a teenage pregnancy rate to beat the best of them.

Now this article is just going to cover a few sexual positions and maybe in the not too distant future I’ll do more on it. The thing is, there are too many for one article to describe albeit some are just a very slight variation of another. So without further ado lets get cracking.

Missionary

The most well known in the Western world is probably the Missionary position. With the female lying on her back and legs apart the male lies on top between her legs, props himself up on his elbows and penetrates. The male’s hips push back and forth until the whole thing is over and done. As a sexual position it is mimicked by the more adventurous with missionary being to advanced copulators what vanilla is to fetishists.

Doggy

Exactly how most of the land based mammals copulate. The female gets onto all fours and the male kneels behind and enters. Lots of people prefer this because of its deep penetration and the male prefers it mainly for control and comfort. The only time comfort is lost is on a hard floor where it can cause abrasions to the knees.

Spoons

The female lies on her side with the male lying on his side behind her. The female raises a leg and the male enters. This is comfortable for both parties and also a very close position with maximum body contact. It also allows both parties to have their hands free.

Cowgirl

The male lies on his back and the female kneels astride him and is entered. The male can champion this position, as it requires not a lot more than lying back and thinking of whatever. His hands are free to do with as he wishes. The female whilst doing all the work can control the tempo and degree of penetration.

Reverse Cowgirl

Funnily enough quite similar to the cowgirl but the female faces the other way

The Chair

The clue is in the title as the man sits on a chair or a stool and the woman sits on the man as though he himself is the chair. Again the woman gets to control the tempo and depth of penetration.

Reverse Chair

The man again sits on the chair and the woman sits astride the man facing him with her arms around his neck to help lift her body weight and lower herself onto him.

The 69

Not a form of sexual intercourse but an effective sex act nevertheless. The man lies down and the woman kneels on all fours with her head facing the man’s feet. The woman takes the man’s penis in her mouth and fellates him while the man raises his head to perform cunnilingus

These are the basic sex acts that everyone should know. If not I suggest you all get cracking and practice the positions mentioned above before the next article on the intermediate side of sex. (Oh dear what a shame!) Happy humping!
