Sexual
Customs
As time
marches on and evolution shapes and bends the human race, our
perceptions change and develop on all manner of subjects. Something
humans have done since the dawn of time is reproduce. The act of
reproduction has been a necessity to maintain our presence on this earth
but it has also become a pleasurable pursuit. This is what sets us apart
from the majority of the animal kingdom. Along
with our pursuit of pleasure from all things sexual we have developed
customs and ancient rites and laws founded on little more than
superstition with no scientific substance attached. Consider some of the
customs below and ask yourself how they came about and why they still
believe in such things. Then ask yourself what these people think to our
beliefs and what would they think of swinging? It’s a funny old world.
We all know Madonna can be a little crazy
at times and the wearing of that red bracelet to show she is part of the
Kabbalah sect is no surprise when you take into account some of the
things she has done. But did you know Kabbalah followers believe God had
a wife of sorts called Shekhinah, his female soul. They believed that
evil was the result of God's loss of his wife. To reunite the male and
female principles, therefore, sex magic was essential so couples were
encouraged to engage in intercourse on the Sabbath so that the other six
days of the week might be blessed.
Another pop star famous for being a little
eccentric is Sting. Everyone knows he and his wife Trudi Styler engage
in tantric sex but did you know in Tantric sexual tradition, it is
considered essential for a man to hold back his sperm rather than
ejaculating. This enables him to activate the kundalini (the energy
situated at the base of the spine) causing it to rise up the spine
through the body's chakras (energy centres) and out through the top of
the head. Successful practice frees the man from the cycle of life,
death, and rebirth, and helps him to achieve enlightenment making him a
Shiva, the god perpetually in sexual union with his goddess.
We all know that when someone dies it is
traditional in the UK to hold a wake. In a lot of countries it is
traditional for the widow to then wear black for the rest of her life.
Not so in Tasmania. Out with wearing a colour that slims the figure and
can be complimentary to every other colour. Over there a widow is
required to wear her dead husband's penis around her neck for a period
of time after his death. And when neighbouring tribes people arrive at
the funeral they are usually greeted in the age-old way of shaking
penises, rather than shaking hands.
Marriage is another institution within the
UK with a ceremony involving a lot of alcohol. The rest of the world is
slightly different to us. In some parts of Colombia, when a couple has
sex for the first time on their wedding night, the bride's mother
watches. And the Marind-anim people of New Guinea, a bride has sex with
all the men in her husband's clan in a kind of marriage ceremony called
"Otiv Bombari." The Tanzanian Zaramo tribe assess newlywed
couples as they make love for the first time by having two women watch.
They look for blood and see how easy the woman is to penetrate, to
determine her virginity. The groom is judged by the amount and thickness
of his semen.
Once married how do you greet guests into
the marital home? Offer them a drink? Something to eat? A seat? The
Tschuktschi of Siberia offer their wives to visitors who must then prove
themselves worthy by undergoing a test. After spending the night with
one of the hosts wife, the visitor must rinse his mouth with her urine.
If he's man enough to do it, he's regarded as a sincere friend
otherwise; he's treated as an enemy of the family.
If its that time of the month men in Uruguay cannot touch their wives
during their menstrual cycle. If they do a man can be fined and publicly
whipped 200 times or more.
So,
the next time you’re feeling like trying something new and exciting
and your partner says you’re weird, show then this article and make
them think themselves lucky!
