Pubic
Lice and Scabies Pubic Lice (crabs) & Scabies are insects which live in hairy parts of our bodies they make people feel incredibly itchy. Pubic Lice and scabies are easily passed on through all forms of close physical contact.
Pubic lice are tiny parasitic insects yellow grey in colour and about 2mm long. They can be found in any areas of the body with course hair; such as under peoples arms, pubic hair, chest hair and legs. Their droppings are like a black powder, which can often be seen in individual’s underwear. Once diagnosed they are easily treated using a special shampoo or lotion whilst all clothing and bedding needs to be washed to avoid infection recurring. It’s also important that any partners you may have had are also treated.
Scabies causes an intense itchy rash, which becomes worse at night, affecting genitals, buttocks, abdomen, arms, nipples, elbows, wrists and hands, especially between fingers. Scabies is harder to diagnose than Pubic Lice but once it is diagnosed it can be easily treated using a special lotion and tablets to reduce the itching. Again, any form of sexual contact with anyone should be avoided until the course of treatment is completed.
