Cystitis

Cystitis is an inflammation inside the bladder. Both men and women can get it but it is far more common in women. Although it is not strictly an STI, Cystitis can be caused by Friction during sex  or passed on via the bacteria, which lives in your bowel entering the bladder, which then in turn causes inflammation.

Symptoms include: -

A burning sensation when you pass urine

Cloudy urine or blood in it

The sensation that you need to pass water often, regardless that there may be hardly any urine to pass

An ache in the lower back or abdomen

Treatment includes: -

Drink plenty of liquid to flush out bacteria and to dilute your urine so that it does not sting as much when you pass urine

Painkillers

Some find using a hot water bottle helps to ease the pain

Wash and pass urine before and after sex

If after a few days the symptoms haven’t cleared then seek medical help. Your doctor will ask you for a sample of urine to find out whether you have an infection and you will then be prescribed a course of antibiotics.
